INTRODUCTION TO YOGA

4 week series class

UtthitaTrikonasana This series of classes introduces the basics of yoga over 4 consecutive weeks for students who have never before practiced yoga or those who are new to the Iyengar method.

The basic asanas (poses or postures) including standing poses, sitting poses and restorative poses will be taught progressively. These postures build up strength and stamina, improve muscular tone, flexibility and alignment. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

IYENGAR YOGA WORKSHOP

with Anna Delury

AnnaDelury

Anna Delury is a Senior Intermediate Level I Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and has been teaching yoga since 1980. Anna served as one of the founders of the Iyengar Institute of Los Angeles. She has a BS in Kinesiology from UCLA. Anna studies regularly with the Iyengar family in Pune, India.

The path of Iyengar Yoga can be arduous, but it is also compelling and exhilarating, meditative and filled with light. In each of her classes and with each of her students, Anna shares the light of yoga which B.K.S. Iyengar kindled in her.

IYENGAR YOGA WORKSHOP

with Chris Beach

Chris Beach

In this workshop, Chris will share some new approaches to the asanas as taught be Geeta Iyengar at the IYNAUS Teachers' Convention held in Portland in May. This may be the last time Geeta comes to teach in this country, and she will be focusing on therapeutic applications of the poses. Chris' workshop will be a great opportunity to experience the most recent teachings of the Iyengars and to deepen your own understanding of the poses.

BackCareBasics

Practicing yoga can reduce tension and tightness that contribute to the sensations of pain in the back. Practicing yoga poses can help to alleviate pain in the lower back, improve posture, strenghten the abdominal muscles and open the hips and hamstrings.

In this class students will be taught a series of poses that are simple, easy to follow and effective to practice at home as well as at the yoga studio.

(Please consult a physician before starting a yoga practice.)
