B.K.S. Iyengar



B.K.S. Iyengar was one of the foremost teachers of Yoga in the world, practicing and teaching for over sixty years. He has written many books on yogic practice and its philosophy including Light on Yoga, Light on Pranayama, and Light on Life.

The Iyengar method can be described as skillful action. It emphasizes a balance between strength, flexibility and endurance. The method of study is orderly and progressive. It utilizes precision of movement and attention to subtle aspects of posture (asana) and breath (pranayama).

The method has a rich diversity of postures, many of which are accessed through the use of props. Mr. Iyengar pioneered the use of simple tools such as blocks, mats and straps as well as more complex inventions such as backbenders and boxes designed for specific purposes.

Manouso Manos is one of the most capable and experienced Yoga Teachers. He began his studies with Sri B.K.S. Iyengar in 1976, and served as chairperson of the First International Iyengar Yoga Convention in 1984. After numerous trips to Pune, India, and over 3 decades of personal practice, his understanding of and insights into yoga are conveyed with authenticity and precision. Manouso teaches at The Abode of Yoga in San Francisco and gives workshops all over the world.

Chalene Johnson

New York Times bestselling author Chalene Johnson is an Orange County-based entrepreneur and motivational speaker who specializes in fitness, lifestyle and business.  She has created many fitness programs including Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, ChaLEAN Extreme and PiYo, and has sold over 10 million DVDs.  John and Megan were fortunate to have attendend Chalene's dynamic fitness classes and her inspirational teachings influence their healthy lifestyle and approach to teaching.

Chalene currently hosts two podcasts, The Chalene Show and Build Your Tribe and she is one of the founders of the SmartLife movement.
